Mamoru, I’m sorry.  For hanging around with Haruka like that.
It’s okay, Usagi.  I trust you.
Mamoru, when I saw you with Michiru, I was really jealous.  I’m sorry I was so foolish.

EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS SCENE.  And the moment after this one, too, of course, where Mamoru talks about how he was jealous as well.  Because they actually TALKED ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED AND WORKED IT OUT.  Instead of letting it build up or sweeping it under the rug, like so many couples do, instead they actually talk directly to each other and that’s pretty amazing.  And it’s why I love this arc forever and ever, because Naoko gives them a stumbling block, but it’s something that helps the relationship actually grow and brings them closer for it.

I love it because Mamoru’s jealous, because Usagi’s jealous, they don’t try to dismiss that, but instead of making themselves feel like crap about it, they smile at each other and realize that it doesn’t matter, it only means that they really love each other that deeply.  And, when push comes to shove?  They trust each other.

Mamoru/Usagi is the most central relationship in this story (with the possible exception of Usagi and Chibi-Usa) but Naoko shows here that they’re not just in a bubble by themselves, they don’t have to spend every moment together to prove they love each other.  Sure, it trips them up at first, but they work through it and it’s okay to spend time with other people.  That’s yet another perfectly normal, perfectly healthy step in a maturing relationship.
